WHISTLER SEA TO SKY DELEGATION TO CHINA
SHANGHAI, CHINA, SEPTEMBER 11-18, 2010
The Whistler Forum, through our Leadership Sea to Sky's "Gateway to Asia Initiatives", and through our relationships with many China experts and officials in British Columbia and China, has arranged the Harmony Tour II program to take a delegation of interested Corridor participants to China in September 2010. This builds on the success of Harmony Tour I in September 2008, when 24 from the Sea to Sky travelled to the BC/Canada Pavilion in Beijing and to the Executive Leadership Centre in Shanghai.
The focus of the Harmony I tour was on sharing knowledge with respect to local community planning for sustainability and accessibility. This Harmony Tour II is focused much more on promoting economic development opportunities with targeted markets in China and the Sea to Sky with respect to:
i) sports and recreation,
ii) education and leaning and
iii) business and investment opportunities
iv) opportunities for Corridor expertise with our competitive advantages and strengths, to do business in China.
When in Shanghai September 11 to 18 we have arranged for high level meetings with key officials and China experts to advise and support our initiatives. They include:
* Nadir Patel, Canadian Consul General and Trade Commissioner Jordan Reeves.
* John MacDonald, Managing Director, East China British Columbia Trade and Investment
* Dominic Granito, Canada- China Business Council
* Richard Choi, Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai
* Jimmy Mitchell, Heritage Canada, Canada Pavilion Shanghai Expo
* Frank Wu, Trust Genesis Capital and Joint Ventures
* Xuezhu Bai, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation at the China Executive Leadership Centre, Shanghai
We are very pleased that our MLA for the Sea to Sky region, Joan McIntyre, and Greg Gardner, Mayor of Squamish will join our delegation. At the Canada Pavilion in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo we have arranged for Thursday September 16 to be Whistler/Sea to Sky Day, and are working to maximize the exposure in promoting economic opportunities through all related channels.
For more information on the delegation, the presentations and goals and purposes of Harmony Tour II see below.
